of the best-selling Honor
Harrington and Oath of Swords science fiction and fantasy series,
and his wife Sharon recently toured Marshall
Space Flight Center as guests of the Space Product Development Program.
The Webers, in Huntsville for David to act as Master of Ceremonies at
a convention, were treated to a day-long series of briefings and tours.
The day started with breakfast briefings on microgravity science and
commercial space and microgravity research being done through the Space
Product Development Program. A brief one-on-one session was held with
the manager of the Space Product Development Program, Mark Nall, and
then the Webers were toured through the Center. These visits included
the former Spacelab Mission Control and new International Space Station

research drop tower and drop tube. After lunch and introductions to
various MSFC officials, the Webers were presented with a briefing on
advanced propulsion technologies by John
Cole, Research Manager.
The day concluded with a tour of the Microgravity Development Laboratory,
where they were shown both flight and ground-based equipment used for
space and microgravity research, and a tour through a mock-up of the
International Space Station.
